In addition, I could start compiling with TexLive with minimal effort, and once I set my PDF viewer as SumatraPDF, forward search started working without any setting.

Since it is still Alpha, there are many glitches, but it looks very promising.

Here is simple compiled AutoHotKey script, SumatraForwardsearch.exe for the forwardsearch functionality.

The format of the command is:

SumatraForwardsearch “pdf file path and name” “tex file path and name” “line number” “column number”

For example,

SumatraForwardsearch.exe “D:\test.pdf” “D:\test.tex” “182″ “1″

You can save this file to wherever you want, and customize your favorite text editor (usually through User Tool) to give those arguments to this script.

It seems work well.  Let me know if you have any issues with this script.

SlickEdit

For SlickEdit, you can define a tool through Document-> Tex Options –> General –> Language-Specific Project… button -> Tools tab.

However, SlickEdit does not have line number and column number variable for user tools, so you need a little Slick-C Macro.

After you loaded the macro, fill the options as follows:

Command line: SumatraForwardsearch.exe “%p%n.pdf” “%f” “%M current_line_number%”  “%M current-col-number%”

Run from dir: the directory where SumatraForwardsearch.exe is

EditPlus

For EditPlus, you can define a tool through Tools-> Configure User tools -> Add Tool -> Program and fill the options as follows:

Menu text: Sumatra Forwardsearch (or any name you want)

Command: SumatraForwardsearch.exe (or you can browse & select the file)

Argument:”$(FileDir)\$(FileNameNoExt).pdf” “$(FilePath)” “$(CurLine)” “$(CurCol)”

Working Directory: the directory where SumatraForwardsearch.exe located

Run as text filter: uncheck

and you can assign a hotkey for the tool in Tools-> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Tool.

UltraEdit

For UltraEdit, you can define a tool through Advanced -> Tool Configuration and fill the options as follows:

Menu Item Name: Sumatra Forwardsearch (or any name you want)

Command Line: SumatraForwardsearch.exe “%p%n.pdf” “%f” “%line%” “%col%”

Working Directory: the directory where SumatraForwardsearch.exe located

and you can assign a hotkey for the tool in Advanced -> Configuration -> Key Mapping.
